Jack Gray – Supervisor of Staff Appraisers

Mr. Gray joined the ranks of Protax LLC in 1997, and has the responsibility of delegating appraisal assignments to the staff of 10 appraisers. With an extremely heavy appeals calendar, Jack also has the intensive duty to coordinate and schedule the appraisers for appearances at assessment appeal hearings.

In his most recent claim to fame, Jack sent a team of Protax LLC appraisers to LA County to address a portfolio of property tax appeals. At the end of the day the team, through its appraisals and compelling arguments, were able to successfully reduce the property assessments by a total of 26 Million Dollars.

With an average of 4,800 hearings annually, Jack develops and implements strategies for his team of appraisers at the hearings. He also reviews the preparations and content of all cases that are scheduled for hearings. Through Jack’s skillful management of the appraisers and the “Hearing Officer Program” Protax LLC is able to generate approximately $200 million in property value reductions annually.

Prior to Jack’s employment, he was the Director of Real Estate for Ray L. Huffman Real Estate, San Diego’s largest apartment developer. In his earliest years of employment Jack was as an auditor for Peat Marwick & Mitchell Company.

Jack holds a degree in Business Administration/Accounting from California State University, Fullerton.
